Under Government legislation, alot of church registers around the UK were seized so that they could be preserved in controlled archive conditions.  The following registers from S. James's are now kept by Manchester (UK) Council Libraries:-

Any registers not listed above can still be viewed at S. James's, usually on a Saturday morning between 11.00 and 12.00 or at any other time by appointment.  Please note that there may be a charge for searching the registers still held at         S.James's Church.  These charges are determined annually by the Archbishop's Council of the Church of England and ratified annually by Act of Parliament.  Payment  is in cash (British Pound Sterling) prior to the search commencing.
